He is active in the local community, having previously served as City Councilman, Chairman and Mayor of Orange City, Florida, and as a member and Secretary of the Volusia County League of Municipalities, as a member of the Board of Directors of the DeBary Chamber of Commerce, the Deltona Area Chamber of Commerce, the DeLand Cultural Arts Center, and the Boy and Girls Club of Volusia County, Inc. He presently serves on the Board of Directors of the African American Museum of the Arts and as a member of the Volusia County Bar/Judiciary/Clerk Committee, the Volusia County Probate and Guardianship Subcommittee, the Southwest Volusia Habitat for Humanity, and the DeLand Area Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Crowther is a 5th degree black belt in Isshinryu Karate and a 1999 Inductee into the American Okinawan Karate Association Hall of Fame. Prior to entering practice, Mr. Crowther obtained the rank of Captain, Military Police, United States Army Reserves. He was listed among the Outstanding Young Men of America in 1979 and 1980, and was a recipient of the State of Florida Good Government Award by the Florida Jaycees in 1978.

Mr. Crowther is a member of the Florida Bar and the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law and Elder Law Sections of the Bar. He was admitted to practice in 1974, and in 1976 was admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit and U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida.
