Transmission Check and Fluid Change by Truck Owner - 11/17/2009I recently had a profound "clunk" develope on my PU truck. I called Cottman's Wheatridge shop (now owned by Jim Dietvorst who is the same owner as the S. Broadway shop) on a Saturday morning and found out the shop was not open on the weekends, but Jim still answered the phone and agreed to meet me at the Wheat Ridge shop first thing Monday morning to analyze the problem. Later that Satuday, I had another shop determine a U-joint had gone out. The second shop quoted me a price of $225 to repair the U-joint and $180 to perform a transmission flush.Monday, I took the truck to Cottman. They took the truck for a test drive and put it on their rack and confirmed a U-joint had gone bad. I told them about some problems I was having with the transmission and asked if it should be rebuilt. Bottom line, Cottman repaired the U-joint, serviced my transmission and confirmed the transmission was sound and did not need to be rebuilt for a total charge of $180.
