Having same doc 2 years in a row, beginning to feel alienated :(

by Discouragedmama , 01/28/2014

I have been with Lori Wittman since 2012 when I was pregnant with my first child. She was very nice and emotionally supportive, almost to the point that I felt I could tell her anything. She delivered my first child with a few complications and then said she would see me in three years for a pap? My last OBGYN did them every year. I am now pregnant with my second child, second go round with her and she has become cold and distant. I feel like she would rather not have me as a patient and I am unsure why. No matter what I call in with (and I am a high risk pregnancy) she acts like it's not important. When face to face with her she isn't very friendly anymore, and does the minimum on my exams as she possibly has too, like I have the plague or something! I know she is a very busy woman, and I would like to continue with her as my doc, but I feel like if I was too tell her how she is making me feel, she would ignore that too or say it's not a big deal and that it's just me. Whatever is going on or is making her treat me this way, I hope I can eventually discuss it with her so we have our good patient/doctor thing so I don't have to find someone else this late in my pregnancy.

good docs, not as good office staff.

by COgirl , 12/23/2013

The docs at this office are great, that's what keeps me coming back. However I have had better service from office staff at other places. Sometimes the office staff and nurse's isn't the most accurate, and it's best not to ask them for too much because it's often more than they can handle. And they will make sure they make you feel like it's a burden and you shouldn't ask for it out of them. Even though its part of their job and at other docs offices they do it without hesitation, because it's their job! But Lori Whittman is such a good doctor and very nice, so I deal with the other people just to see her. I wish she could move to Women's Healthcare of Western Colorado, as they have great office staff and nurse's but not all of the doc's are good. If we could do some trading we would have a perfect team!

Dr. Mang-Smith patient

by Proud mom , 08/01/2012

Dr. Katie Mang-Smith recently delivered my son. Throughout my pregnancy, Dr. Mang-Smith has been extremely helpful and takes time to answer all my questions as well as my husband's. I have never felt rushed during my visits. I especially appreciated that Dr. Mang-Smith came in to deliver my son on her day off!

Problems after hysterectomy

by Unhappy , 05/23/2012

I had a hysterectomy in May of last year (2011). Because of a prior surgery, Dr Ridgely used the incision under my belly button to do the full hysterectomy. It took over six weeks for the pain to go away. Afterward I felt bloated and miserable. When I went back for a follow up, I mentioned this but it fell on deaf ears. Later I called to question the bloating again and was advised by his nurse I needed to go to my regular GP. I then searched one out, after the 2nd attempt, I found an ok doctor. We tried working on the hormone issues and I also developed digestion issues. I had a CT scan which didn't reveal anything. I had an endoscopy, still nothing. I had a hiadiscan and small bowel series, still nothing. I had another endoscopy and a colonoscopy. That office recommended taking psyllium husks, which I did and then terrible stomach pains. I went to the ER and they said my CT scan showed nothing, and they did nothing and sent me home. I still had horrible stomach pains (like my guts wanted to fall out). Went other other hospital and they did another CT scan and found I had an incisional hernia (which occurred after my hysterectomy) after one year later I had the incisional hernia repaired and am finally on my way to recovery. Wished Dr Ridgely and his staff would have just checked me out and I would not have had to suff for so long and been treated like I was crazy. The surgeon who did my incisional hernia repair said it was worse than they thought when they got in there.

Awsome Doctor Highly recomended!- Dr. Robbins!

by would not choose another , 04/23/2012

Dr.Robbins has been my doctor for almost 5 years. He has delivered both of my children and is an amazeing doctor. He always goes out of his way to make sure you are satisfied with your results from your doctor vists and puts in extra effort to do everything that he can for your prenatal needs. For example, he was not the doctor on call when i went into labor with my son, however, he made sure he was there to deiver him personally. He is funny and personal, he always makes you feel comfortable even in uncomfortable situations. After delivering each of my kids he sent me a congrats gift, which i may add, is a very special touch!

I have seen Dr. Robbins for 8 years now and love him! He is very personable and professional. I never feel uncomfortable around him and he knows what he's doing!!! I know others who have seen Dr. Robbins and others in the practice and are very happy with them

Horrible place! worst doctor

by Ann , 08/12/2011

I had Dr. Katie Mang Smith for the past 5 months. She always rushed me through my visits, her nurse never returned my phone calls, was very rude, and told me I had placenta previa when I didn't. She rushed my husband and I through the ultrasound when finding out the sex of our baby when it should be enjoyable. I then switched to Dr. Lee Hardin, he said I never had placenta previa. I would have been on bed rest for the last 4 months of my pregnancy for no reason! She couldn't even read the ultrasound when doing it. She told me I could die from placenta previa and that my baby could too, that I will have to get a c-section. She made everything sound horrible. Her nurse Niah was rude!!! Called my husband and told him she couldn't release my info to him when I already had filled out a form when I first started going there. They are very unorganized. They called my husband my boyfriend basically. They didn't even pay attention to my problems! Horrible place and horrible service

IC Relief

by MKillgore , 05/26/2011

I have been suffering with IC for about a year. When I visited the office of Dr. Katie Mang-Smith I was met with warmth and understanding. Not only did she offer her sympathy but many options for relieving the pain. She is very patient and listens during my visits and has helped me identify triggers. I am grateful to have this office as a resource for my condition.

Great New Doctor!

by AleannH , 11/15/2010

I had my very first visit to Colorado West Women's Care this last week and met their newest doctor, Dr. Katie Mang-Smith. She is great! The whole office was absolutely wonderful! They aren't your usual stuffy doctors office. The mood was light and the women were great! The nurse put me at ease and Dr. Mang-Smith was young and vibrant and made me feel like we knew each other already! They also made my husband feel at ease in an office full of laides! I highly recommend this office to anyone who wants to feel like going to the OB isn't a chore!
