The Cogswell Agency is a member of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA) and the Strategic Independent Agents Alliance (SIAA). In 1999, Montana State University named the agency Family Business of the Year in recognition of its three generations of dedicated insurance service to Montana families and businesses, as well as its philanthropic activities. Agency president E. B. “Ted” Cogswell, Jr.’s father founded the company in 1937.

During the early 1980’s, Cogswell Agency created two subsidiary companies in order to better meet Montana’s insurance needs. Northwest Administrators administers benefit plans, including Section 125 flexible spending plans, for employers throughout Montana and the Northwest.
