They’ll go months at a time without billing us, then give us a huge lump bill. They’ve also overcharged us multiple times instead of actually reading the meter. When we moved, we notified them way in advance and they shut off our services late from the appointment date we scheduled. We also are still waiting on our final bill and haven’t been billed since June, so they’re currently 3 months behind. Calling them leads to vague “well it should happen, if not call back” replies over and over without anyone actually doing anything to help. Worst utility company I’ve ever used by far. If you have any option other than them, I recommend you take it.

No customer service

Several days before my move to Indianapolis, I contacted Citizens Energy by phone, to advise them of the move. They took all the information --and my $200 deposit.

Days after I moved in --I discovered the water and gas had been shut off based on the former owner's request. In

spite of the fact that Citizens verified my call --there is no system in place to follow the activity at a specific

address. My water and gas were shut off at mid-day on

July 3rd--and the utility refused to return to turn the water

back on---forcing my household (I am a senior) to go

without water until after the July 4 holiday. In a time when

utilities are or should be under closer scrutiny (PG & E in

California) it is astounding to me that Citizens has no "best practices" policies. It is no wonder the utility was downgraded by Moody's last year...

I have been a Citizens Gas Utility Customer for 24 years and I moved in August 13, 2013. I no longer needed their gas services any longer and I contacted Cheryl at Citizens Energy Group about my deposit. She said that she would go into the archives because it had been since 1990 when I paid my deposit. I informed her that I recently gave my receipt to them and let them make a copy. I waited some months and I still have not received my deposit. I filed a complaint with the Office of Utility Consumer Counselor and the Attorney Generals Office and I still have not received my deposit with interest. Citizens Energy Group has given me excuse after excuse why I have not received my deposit. They said that it has been too many years to find the information and that they cannot see if my deposit has been returned which is not my problem. You have to pay a deposit to get any utilities turned on. They said they do not know if I have paid a deposit. You cannot receive services without a deposit so they are playing games and refusing to send me my deposit. I will have to file a claim against their company in order to receive my deposit back. If you do not pay your utility bill they are very quick to disconnect your services but when you request your deposit returned you have to beg them. They should have returned my deposit within a reasonable amount of time without me having to go through h*** to get it back.
