Founded in 1978, the Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT) is a nonprofit organization that promotes livable and sustainable communities. Headquartered in Chicago, the center develops a variety of projects in the areas of climate, energy, natural resources, transportation and community development. The Center for Neighborhood Technology designs, develops and operates economic development demonstration projects to address urban sustainability in innovative ways. The center has launched two nonprofits that include CNT Energy, which is an organization that develops and implements initiatives to help consumers and communities control energy costs and reduce energy use and I-GO, which is a membership-based car sharing organization that provides hourly rental of a fleet of cars located across Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.
