I am a licensed teacher who now works as a full-time tutor. I will come to you (to your home or the nearest Public Library) and work one-on-one with the student who needs tutoring. I’ve found it most effective to work with students no more than one hour at a time, usually twice a week. For this personalized service, I charge from $40 - $50 an hour, depending on how far I have drive.
I am capable of tutoring all grades and all subjects , but my “specialties” are: Math, especially Algebra and Geometry, and Reading Improvement.
I can help:
•adult students who are taking college courses but find themselves wasting hours of their valuable time trying to understand the course material
•high school students who need help passing the High School Math Proficiency Test, or their Math/Algebra courses
•middle school or elementary school students who need help with their Math courses, or students who need to be able to Read better, and/or understand what they read (Reading comprehension)
Working one-on-one with a student allows me to teach them the way they learn. Using my training and experience as a teacher, I am able to find each student’s “comfort level” in the subject they are learning. Then, I can help them learn the skills they need to “catch up” to where they need to be, so they will then be able to “keep up” with the course material.
When a student receives quality tutoring, not only will they learn to understand the course material, there are other benefits as well. Many parents tell me that they see improvement in their child’s self-confidence and attitude towards school. But, don’t take my word for it. Read the testimonials from previous and current clients regarding how hiring me as a tutor has benefited them and their children. You can also click on parents to read more information specifically geared to parents of elementary through high school students.
What if I can’t tutor all the people who contact me? It’s my personal opinion that a qualified teacher is the best choice for a tutor, but my schedule is often so full that I simply cannot accept a new student. In order to provide a teacher to everyone who needs a tutor, I am developing a “network” of teachers who want to tutor and provide you with the quality tutoring you deserve. (Teachers who would like to become part of my network, click on the teachers button.)
