Carleton College is a small, private liberal arts college located in Northfield, Minnesota. Established in 1866, we are well known for our welcoming community and tradition of academic excellence.

We are dedicated in preparing our students with a true liberal arts education that challenges them to learn broadly and think deeply, with Bachelor of Arts degrees awarded in 37 majors in the arts, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences.

Our campus sits on 1,040 acres in the historic river town of Northfield, a town of 17,000 that is approximately 40 miles south of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. Our faculty is made up of highly respected scholars, researchers, and practitioners in their fields and our student body is a diverse group of less than 2,000 from all across the United States and countries around the world.
