Thomas J. Burns, LMHC, is a "general practitioner" whose patients suffer from the mainstream of life's stresses and challenges. His particular specialties include stress, depression and anxiety, job stress, issues of childhood and family history, grief, relationship difficulties, human development, and the particular worries of parenthood. A particular specialty is spiritual growth and dilemmas.

In addition to his masters studies at Rollins College [M.A., 1988] Mr. Burns also holds an M.A. in Theology from the Washington [DC] Theological Union [1974] and enjoys a large influx of Catholic patients. At the same time it has been his privilege to assist patients of all beliefs and value systems. As he puts it, "Character counts in mental health. Distress is often a by-product of inner turmoil between what we do and what we believe. Healing is often a matter of rediscovering our inner North Star."

Mr. Burns is an in-network provider for many health care plans, including United Health Care. However, lack of insurance or financial difficulty during our current recession is not necessarily an obstacle to treatment. Feel free to call and inquire.

Mr. Burns provides mental health information and education workshops in a multitude of settings. He has presented from coast to coast.
