Steve,Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We’re sorry for your confusion with your engine. At McLees we always strive to make all our customers happy and satisfied with our service. When you originally called us you mentioned the engine needed just a freshening, rings and bearings. Your point to us was you knew exactly what your 396 needed. We gave you an estimate on replacing bearings and rings based only on what you told us over the phone and advised you we could only give you a proper estimate after we examined the engine.When you brought the engine in we disassembled it to replace the bearings and rings but found the engine needed a complete rebuild. Two of the cylinders were so bad they needed sleeves.We then talked to you again and gave you an estimate for doing the additional work to the block so we could rebuild the block properly and you gave us the go ahead.When the block was done and we were about to assemble, you came by and took a look. You were happy with the block and machine work, but you wanted more done to the cylinder heads then what you originally asked. I agreed we should go through the heads completely, I gave you an estimate, again you gave us permission to go ahead, we did the work and did a good quality job at a fair price. I am sorry if you were confused in your addition of these three quotes We felt we kept you updated from beginning to end and only did what you authorized as we took each step in the process. Giving our customers the best service and quality is always our goal.
