Bremerton Dance Center (BDC) is celebrating 45 years of service and training in the art of dance for Kitsap County. With this long term commitment comes a responsibility to our students and the community, both for superior teaching and an artistic experience.
Each student receives the utmost attention in class and an opportunity to advance through dedication and cooperation. It is the philosophy of Bremerton Dance Center to instill in each student a sense of discipline, physical prowess, and ballet artistry, which they will carry forward throughout their lives, whether or not a future dance career is planned. This philosophy allows BDC to provide the care and attention that each dancer deserves by creating opportunities to participate in recitals, full-length ballets, collaboration with Peninsula Dance Theatre (PDT), and other community programs.
BDC Mission Statement
To create and nurture a supportive dance environment by educating and developing dance artists and providing quality performances to the Kitsap Peninsula. We promote teamwork, self discipline, confidence and health; all of which leads to personal success and enriches the entire community.
Our Classes
Children’s Division:
The Children’s Program is based on graded curriculum applying appropriate instruction for age and physical development of the student. A once-per-week class of Pre-Ballet prepares students for classical ballet training by exploring music, rhythm and movement (Ages 3 and up). Students learn the basics of dance, beginning tap, and tumbling. Ballet Levels I-II-III, starting at age 7 and up, introduces students to classical ballet. Beginning tap corresponds to the above ballet levels and basic tap up through the Rhythm Time Step.
Student/Professional Division:
Levels III-IV serve students who desire more intensive training and involvement in Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, and Tap. At this level of commitment students start to develop a desire in possibly pursuing a professional career in dance and we recommend taking twice a week. The grade curriculum emphasizes the development for artistic and performing abilities. Pointe is introduced at Ballet Levels IV and V, and Pas de Deux at Level VI.
Teen/Adult Program:
The Teen and Adult Program at Bremerton Dance Center is designed for the student who wishes to pursue dance for personal expression, health, recreation, or as an avocation providing a social outlet. The school provides a varied curriculum while maintaining superior quality of instruction sufficient for the continuing dancer. Students may enroll according to interest and ability. Classes include levels of Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop.
