Great review. But took two trips. (I guess yesterday's star rating should've been a 4.

by dana&dave , 09/13/2014

Yesterday I posted a great review. However, shower flooded again this morning. Blue Sky came out right away. For no charge (under warranty), pipes were re-drilled (?--whatever it's called) and have been reassured that all is well. James even fixed the 'floated' thingy in the toilet tank to help the flush work better. I'll still call them again. We'll see what the next shower brings!

Blue Sky ripoff

Maybe some have found Blue Sky to be the best. Oh yea, I used to think the same, but things have changed. My most recent experience was a simple heater maintenance visit. I pointed out a leak in a simple single wall 4" flue that I knew needed to be addressed. No problem. They would send someone out to look at it and make an estimate then send someone else to fix it. Two more house calls (two more days of staying home from work for me). I talked with the "boss", Mike Wilson is the name, and he says that there is no such thing as a person who can look at a problem and can fix it too. And besides he would need a "huge trailer" to carry all the possible parts. "and there are just so many different brands..." Jeez Home Depot has single wall 4" flue and all the possible joints etc. The person who came the first time cannot just tell him what the problem is ..or even just guestimate? It was obvious from my conversation with Mike that I was just too stupid to understand such things.

None of us likes to hear that we can't have something repaired in the time frame we would like due to logistics. However, if we choose to view these required steps as some sort of customer service shortcoming, then we are sure to be unhappy. The logistical steps needed in this case were in place to insure the safety and smart design of a new flue system, one which we found was currently leaking carbon monoxide at a level that is 500% more than allowed, but would have required this reviewer to take some additional time off to be at home. I regret that this reviewer could not see that we had his best interest in mind. I spent time on the phone with him myself to try to convey that. But I would rather inconvenience a customer than to ever have one harmed for the sake of expedience or convenience. Mike WilsonGeneral Manager,Blue Sky Plumbg & Htg

Do yourself a favor and find a different company

by tmand14 , 07/26/2013

This company shouldn't be in business! They do not stand behind their work, they are unprofessional and they are borderline crooks! Prior to moving into our home, Blue Sky certified their work on the heater and AC (in writing), but when it came to turn on the heat, there was no heat. When I called them to let them know that something was wrong, the manager said that he certified the work done on THAT DAY and that it was working the day he certified the work, but he can't vouch for any other day thereafter. WHAT?!?! He refused to come out to fix it without us paying him. Then, Blue Sky also installed a new AC unit prior to us moving into the house. The unit hasn't been working this summer and so they came out at 2PM to assess the problem, then said they couldn't work because it was too hot in the attic and they normally schedule these types of services first thing in the AM because it is a health hazard to work in extreme heat... then, why didn't they schedule the appointment in the AM? Aren't they the "professionals" and shouldn't they know better than to schedule an appointment that requires attic work during the hottest part of the day? They charged me a visit fee for less than 15 min visit and were going to charge me again for them to reschedule and actually do their assessment. The manager said that he can't control the weather and he's sorry for the inconvenience but he'd have to charge me a separate dispatch fee for them to do their full assessment! I think not!!!

Unfortunately this reviewer called to unleash a diatribe of F-bombs and other expletives in an effort to receive special treatment and discounting which were not due her. Prior to her purchasing the home, the previous owner had repairs made to the existing boiler and air conditioning - repairs which are unconnected to the issue she is now having. We spent 45 minutes of travel time and then 45 minutes troubleshooting her system, which revealed that her new problem was located in her attic which exceeded 140 degrees. For the health and safety of our technician, we were forced to reschedule for another time. She received a fair service call from an experienced technician and she gained knowledge she didn't previous have, but we cannot provide this level of service for free. We support all reviewers in freely expressing their opinions of Blue Sky, including negative feedback, as long as it is authentic, honest, and not a misrepresentation of facts. We also believe there is no place in business for this reviewer's endless abusive profanity. We hope this doctor will take an assessment of her behavior before she hires another service provider. Blue Sky Plumbing is the BEST!!!

by K. S. Gaynor, Lakewood , 05/17/2013

I have used Blue Sky for about 10 years. At least twice a year they come ------to open my pool house in the Spring and close it in the Fall. They have uncloggd drains (difficult ones), installed faucets and a garbage disposal, serviced the furnace and air conditioner. ALWAYS, the cost is reasonable and the service is TOP NOTCH!

Blue Sky Plumbing and Heating is a good choice

by Dennis and Kay , 12/08/2012

What started out as a sticky zone valve on our hot water heat system quickly spiraled out of control when we called one of the big name plumbers. You know, the ones who attach a magnet to the phone book and go by multiple names. The big name plumber came out and quickly found multiple issues with the boiler and prepared a proposal of must do items that totaled over $3200!! I was shocked that a boiler I'd spent $8,000 on (also with the same big name plumber) seven years ago could possibly need so much work. When I brought this to their attention, they said I had called the wrong business and, even though they had the same name(s), I'd have to contact the other contractor. The bid included $600 for a pressure relief valve that cost $30 (the plumber said it was because he had to drain the system). He also had draining the system on the zone valve repair AND a separate item to drain and install some sort of corrosion protection chemical. That's three times they would have charged me to drain the system! I looked up other parts and services in the bid and determined the labor was about $400 per hour. The truth we discovered is: the big name plumbers work on commission (and your ignorance and panic at being without a heating system you generally take for granted). They will sell you anything they possibly can at "unit" prices and never look to save you money.I didn't sign anything and instead looked for a highly rated, smaller local contractor who could evaluate the unbelievable bid we got from big name plumber. I consulted Blue Sky for a second opinion on the cost to fix our boiler and received an honest evaluation and fair bid from Brian Martin. Brian clearly knows what he is doing and eliminated the unnecessary flush/corrosion protection and multiple system draining tasks. Blue Sky had prices that were about 1/3 of the big name guys and Brian further crafted the proposal so save me money. He was a pleasure to work, thoroughly explained the need for each task and did the work himself the next day. Blue Sky does not pay their technicians on commission and runs a very good business. Please seriously consider them the next time you need a good plumbing and heating contractor.

Thanks to this reviewer for their feedback here. I'm so glad you see the difference that customer-focused service makes. No high pressure sales approach; just professionals who honestly listen and inform clients of the options available to them. So glad you so clearly noted the impact of that. Thanks for entrusting Blue Sky with your project!Mike WilsonGeneral Manager,Blue Sky Plumbing & Heating(303) 421-2161

Blue Sky Plumbing & Heating

by James & Traci , 07/13/2012

We have anewer home with an a.c. that is about 10 years old. It has not worked right for a few years. We finally decided it was time to get it fixed before the sweltering days of summer were upon us.I firstmade an appointment with AAA AC in Wheatridge and was excited to get it fixed before the busy summer ac repair season started. Ihad to wait a few weeks for an appointment, but then finally my day came....guess what? They never showed, no problem I called them, they were sorry they just had too many appointments scheduled that day and they could not keep their appointment with me. No problem, so I re-scheduled for the following week...and guess what...same thing, no show no call till I called them, they were very sorry but alas over-booked again could not make it, but would to reschedule. No thanks. So now a month later, it is prime time heat full on 100 degree I called Blue Sky on a Monday (after my no show) spoke to Jessie, told him my situation, and guess what they were able to schedule me in 2 days later!Matt showed up on time, he was clean cut, professional and friendly. After a diagnoisis and conversation, he made a determination that my ac needed 2 lbs of freeon. He went to his truck, wrote me a formal quote and once I approved it, he went to work...and 30 minutes later I had ac running! Awesome!I cannot say enough good things about Matt, Jessie and Amber who placed a follow up call to be sure everything was working great! This is a great company and was an absolute pleasure to do business with. Thank you Blue Sky so much! We will recommend you to everyone who needs an ac or heating guy!Fantastic Job A+++Many Thanks,Jim & Traci Deyoung

Great Job!

Blue Sky installed a roof top HVAC unit at our office in Aurora May 23 & 24, 2012. First, it is beyond wonderful to have working air conditioning in our office and training areas. Your installation team, Chris and the electricians, were wonderful and completely focused on our timeline. Chris and you were both available for my many questions during the second day of installation. All-in-all an excellent job from the whole Blue Sky team. Please express my thanks to Chris for hanging in there with me!

Get Pricing Up Front!

by Elizabeth , 10/29/2011

Had new furance and hot water heater installed and it did not pass Jeffco inspection. Salesperson came out to review situation, not EVER mentioning it was going to cost me over $350 dollars. When I called to schedule technician, I was still NOT told it was going to cost me money. When the tech arrived, one hour late, he finished the job and wanted payment. I did not pay. I sent a registered letter documenting my experience to the "fourth generation owner"" per website and have not had any satisfaction since they still sent me an invoice.

Response from Business - 03/09/2012
We performed the installation of a new furnace and water heater for this customer which included all applicable building permits. The building inspector determined that the home needed a code upgrade requiring the installation of a pipe bringing fresh air for combustion from the outdoors. We returned to the property and completed the work as required. I was saddened to learn later that we had failed to properly communicate specifically what the charges would be to the homeowner. I made numerous attempts to contact the customer in order to resolve this pricing oversight, to no avail. In order to make things right, I simply made the decision to eliminate all charges associated with the additional work that we had completed for the customer. I'm sorry that we failed to fully communicate with our customer. Our customer's satisfaction is our primary focus and it is my hope that we have illustrated this by simply giving away the work for free. Upgrades required by your local inspector are the financial responsibility of the property owner - My hope is that since the customer has now gotten the work for free that she will see her way to amending her previous review.

Deceiving pricing - $60.00 service fee - does not include the 1st -15 minute charge ---in which they charge every quarter hour (15 minute time frame) on top of that -so essentially you are going to be out a minimum of $122.00 - even if they are not there the entire 1/4 hour -you are charged the entire $31.00-plus parts and tax---ouch!

Response from Business - 12/19/2014
Thanks for the feedback and I'm sorry to hear that our pricing was confusing. It's our intention to make it clear to every customer, every time. I apologize if we weren't in your case. Our $59 Dispatch Fee does indeed include the 1st 15-20 minutes of our troubleshooting. And if that's all you need from us, then that's all that we would charge you. But many technical problems turn out to be more complicated than originally thought and do require additional troubleshooting. But we always stop to quote that and we won't do any work without your approval. That way you know that we're not hiding anything. Thanks again for your thoughts and for calling on Blue Sky. Please contact me directly if I may be of any assistance to you. Mike WilsonGeneral Manager,Blue Sky Plmbg & Htg303-421-2161

Great company - honest people

by ralau100 , 01/06/2011

They quickly responded to our urgent need for a replacement water heater and did quality work correcting mistakes that had been done during the house's construction 5 years earlier. They returned to us a large sum of money rebated from the original equipment manufacturer which they could have just kept and we would have never known the difference.
