    Failed to Perform Biopsy-Missed Cancer

    by Theodore Kleinman , 09/22/2014

Treated for skin lesions by two different practioners (one DR and one PA) in the clinic over several years. Both failed to take biopsies when the lesions failed to resolve over time. Went to Deschutes Dermatology where they immediately took biopsies that turned out to be basal and squamous cell cancers. Needed surgery and radiation to resolve the cancer. Would "never" recommend Bend Dermatology.

I went in to have a couple moles looked at on my arm- I ended up being worried about the wrong mole! Dr. Troutman looked me over and found something I didn't even know I had. She took care of it, and I was on my way.She was a real pro- I have a new dermatologist and she is a good one! Thanks for your help and looking out for me.

Did you know that Bend Dermatology does NOT provide preventative care?

    by Mollie , 06/17/2013

Did you know that Bend Dermatology does NOT provide preventative care? I didn't either but that was what I was told when I asked why my annual skin screening was billed as an office visit rather than an annual sreening. They had sent me a reminder for an annual and I was careful to make sure I mentioned that it was an annual screening when I made the appointment and when the doctor entered the room but I was billed for an office visit rather than an annual screening. I can't decide if they are truely uncaring or simply playing semantics with the term "preventative care".

    Response from Business - 2013-10-10 15:10:47
We apologize that you were not happy with how your services were billed. Along with the American Academy of Dermatology we encourage annual skin exams since many skin cancers can be caught early at these visits. The term "preventative care" for billing applies to visits with primary care providers. As a specialist, Dermatologists provide annual skin screenings which are not billable as preventative care under the Affordable Care Act. . If you have questions relating to your visit and your bill, please feel free to call our office. We would be happy to help.

Most expensive healthcare you can find

    by Got Screwed , 03/14/2012

Got charged over $700 for a 15 minute visit and the removal of a small spot. They also charged $120 just to call me with the results. Absolutely rediculas what they charge.

    Response from Business - 2012-03-16 11:40:54
We apologize that you felt your charges were out of line. Without looking at your statement, it is hard to address the specifics of your visit, however we do not charge for phone calls so we would like to talk with you about your account. We strive to work with all patients on understanding their charges and arranging payment options. Please call our office at 541-382-5712 and ask to speak with our Billing Manager. Thank you for your feedback, we look forward to clearing up any confusion.
