Bee Hive Assisted Living all began in 1987 when Twayne Walker built the first assisted living home in Meridian, Idaho. In response to very limited quality care facilities, Twayne originally built the first Bee Hive Homes as a means to providing his grandmother with a nice place to live with quality care. However, it didn’t take long to realize that there were many searching for the same services. The Bee Hive Homes assisted living model itself is unique. With a focus on smaller homes that resemble an actual residential home, Bee Hive Homes is dedicated to making the move to assisted living comfortable. The motivation behind this innovative idea was developed around the concept that the elderly deserve a clean and comfortable family setting in a home at an affordable price when they reach a point in life where they need assisted living care. Many homes then available did not provide a pleasant atmosphere where residents could live happily. To make matters worse, the cost of most facilities was out of reach for many of the elderly and their families. During the construction phase of the first assisted living home, there was so much interest shown by potential residents that many of them were ready to move in as soon as it was completed.
