I was referred to Doc by colleages/friends who had trusted him implicitly for years. I have never looked back. Mind you, one friend specifically drove her Lab from Northern Wyoming, just for the love and expertise that Doc holds for the animals -- and he does, trust me!Since relocating to New Mexico, we do have a vet in Taos that we use, as the interim vet is a friend of ours. BUT, for at least our dogs, we drive them to Doc. It would be too stressful to drive our cats that far -- for them. However, we get a diagnosis in Taos and run it through Doc's expertise!! Do we trust him --- OH YEAH!!I note that one person perceived him as a "carmudgen". That saddens me, but that said, Doc is a million percent about THE ANIMALS. He does not take our money to have a desirable bedside manner for people and Doc Watson is like him as well. Doc also does not just diagnosis an animal as "hopeless" and put them down, as so manyl vet clinics do. He will treat an animal completely -- and alternatively -- if he "reads" the animal as not ready to go over that rainbow bridge.His clinic is not slick and impressive. It serves its purpose and is always full. His profit goes into the animals and any new and better protocols of treatment. By the way, everyone should realize that Doc was a licensed M D. before he converted to Veterinary; but even further, he was a CANCER RESEARCHER. He comes to all of us as a highly specialized practitioner, but that is not reflected in his prices.

My son stephan Ross loved his dog more than anything on earth.I'm writing this letter because Dr.Gurney helped him when his dog was sick and dying,my son had little money being diabled himself and trying to get by with 800 dollars a month.In all my life,I"m 56 years old.I have never come across a vet with so much compassion and love in his heart.I need to say thankyou to you and all your staff for the care and understanding you gave prada and my son.I live in ca,stephan still in co.where he loves it.prada the dog loved Dr.Gurney and the staff also,you gave Prada more than an extra year without pain to share his life with my son,who unknown to you,how he needed his dog.I praise you for choosing what you do,I thank you for making it possible to do what you have done,your not just about money,you care,and that is the greatist gift god gave you and you give your patients.thankyou again,Mrs.Judith M.Ross,Homeland,CA.92548

Doc and his staff are very professional and caring. This is the only veterinary office that I have gone to that I have actually felt like they truely care. When I take my dogs, they are actually excited to go and are not afraid to go into the office. Doc Gurney is very knowledgable when it comes to Alternative medicines and stays current on todays medicines. I will never go to another office as long as he is around. Thank you for all you have done for my animals.
