Great Kitchen!

We have been working with a contractor and decided to get 3 quotes from 3 different granite companies. All 3 gave us similar numbers. We went with the middle of the road quote. We did this because they didn't make promises, were licensed, bonded and insured and they told us we could go and pick out our granite from the supplier. One of the companies asked us to pick out granite in their yard, which we did not feel comfortable doing. We went to the supplier and was treated wonderful. Artisan told us when we called that the supplier had notified them and they would be ready for installation in about 7 days. The installer's name was Angel. He set up everything in the garage. He and his helper completed the countertops in one day. They cleaned everything up before they left. We noticed a couple of things that didn't look right and called for some help. Another man showed up in 2 days. His name was Fosto. Fosto looked at a couple of the seams or joints and fixed everything. We have noticed that granite is not perfect. We picked slabs that are black and they look beautiful. Fosto said it great - it's a rock. But we will make it look like a beautiful rock and Artisan did. Our neighbor loved our granite and picked another granite company to do the job. They were cheaper. You can tell the difference, especially around the sink. We have no problems around our sink or around the stove. We were told that the slabs could break at any time, but they would fix them also. We are having our bathrooms done next and we will be using a quartz material. We will go back to Artisan.

Happy with Bathrooms, now doing the Kitchen

After reading the review from June 2009, I felt like I should post our experience with Artisan when they installed granite counter tops in our master and guest bathrooms. We had another contractor doing the floor and shower work at the time when Artisan came and measured for the counter tops and tub surround. The existing counter tops were demo'd and Artisan put down the plywood decking then so we would have some counter space instead of just "open" cabinets until the granite was installed (approx 10 days).During the fabrication process, Artisan informed us that one of the counter tops had a seam in it and broke. They ask us to go pick out another slab at our supplier's warehouse and said they would pick it up and finish our job as soon as possible.BOTTOM LINE: It took about 4 extra days to get the new slab, fabricate it, then do the final install (pretty quick I think). Also, there was NO extra cost to us for the replacement granite slab.We are using Artisan again to do a

Research Granite Prior to Purchasing

Buyer Beware - Please do your research before deciding to install granite into your home. We decided to install granite fabricated from Artisan Natural Stone Products in Tempe, AZ based on a referral from a friend. Prior to installation, we were notified that both of our pieces of granite had cracked. 3 months after having our existing countertops torn out, we still had no countertops and no sink, only a torn up half-functional kitchen. In the end we had to pay for 65 of the job (several thousand dollars), even though the countertops were never installed! Weve learned that unless your granite splits into pieces its still considered installable (nothing a little epoxy can't fix). After researching granite further, we've determined that quartz is the highest quality countertop product available, of the two choices. Please do your research and dont just go with whats popular right now. You may decide, as we did, that granite isnt all its cracked up to be. Tip - If the job
