At The Ark, we offer dual-diagnosis residential treatment for adults with mental health and addiction issues. While the emphasis is on group therapy, we apply a wide range of treatments including cognitive therapy, behavior modification, medical stabilization, 12-step programs and even equine therapy in a beautiful, restful setting. Our clients may be experiencing a broad range of mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders and personality disorders as well as compulsive disorders like chemical dependency, sexual addictions, eating disorders, gambling or shopping addictions, but in each case, the treatment is customized to the unique circumstances of each client. The Ark staff’s education, training, experience, compassion and focus on the spiritual side of wellness help clients begin the healing process.
Every client who comes to The Ark is different, and so we take into consideration both the cognitive and behavioral needs of the patient and then develop a “master treatment plan” specifically designed for that individual. During this portion of residential treatment, our patients undergo individual and group counseling along with mental health therapy. But, as our graduates will tell you, we engender a feeling of family where everyone is invested in the success and well-being of each other, clients as well as staff. This group approach occurs during residential treatment, and continues long after graduation. The Ark extends a lifetime after-patient care program for all of its residents to ensure that old problems don’t return. It’s just another way we are invested in the long-term health and peace of mind of our clients.
Because nobody is ever totally divorced from the causes and effects of a mental health or addiction issue, clients who complete the extended portion of their program receive lifelong aftercare. Aftercare is free of charge and includes a weekly aftercare group and an individual counseling session with a counselor each month. In addition, if aftercare patients find themselves in a relapse (or headed that way), we encourage them to meet with our clinical team to assess their weaknesses and work through their struggles. We refuse to give up on those who continue to seek help. It is a lifelong commitment we make with you.
