Welcome to Animal Village NM.

Animal Village N.M. is a ‘life oriented’ pet adoption & animal welfare services center located on almost 9 acres at 7246 Highway 54 70, just outside of Alamogordo, NM. The intention of Animal Village N.M. is to provide services to encourage and support humane relationships between people and the animals with whom they interact. To end the suffering and deaths of unwanted animals- and the huge expense to taxpayers of animal control costs and euthanasia caused by indiscriminate breeding- we offer subsidies for low-cost spay and neuter services. To help people enjoy and bond with their pets, we offer training support and solutions, both at the center and by directing them to valuable resources to solve home issues. To assist those who are temporarily unable to feed their pets due to financial emergencies, we offer our free pet food-bank service.

Freedom Dogs:
To save the lives of ‘death row’ dogs Animal Village N.M. offers “Freedom Dogs,” which allows (as soon as we adopt someone out and have an empty kennel) participating shelters to send us their most adoptable dogs and cats- who are about to be killed the next day. These dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, and are all wonderful companions who are about to lose their lives- simply because new homes cannot be found in time. ‘Freedom Dogs’ are en route to Animal Village N.M. via transports from as far as Arkansas, and are our top priority. Our hope is that with mandatory spay and neuter programs being implemented by forward-thinking communities, programs such as “Freedom Dogs” will not be necessary at some point in the future. But as long as loving, loyal companion dogs are being killed for space in animal holding facilities, whether called ‘shelters’ or Animal Control, being dumped in trash bins or drowned in creeks, Animal Village N.M. will be there to love and care for them until responsible adopters make them a part of their loving homes. And Animal Village N.M. will continue to support mandatory spay & neuter legislation and offer low-cost surgeries on a sliding scale to the public.

Boarding Services:
To bring in funding and offer our adopters and the public a safe, accessible place for their pets to stay for short term periods, we will soon offer boarding services for pets at “The Bunkhouse.” The Bunkhouse is a loving, sanitary and fun place for spayed, neutered pets who are up-to-date on vaccinations to ‘vacation.’ The Bunkhouse offers different packages (see “The Bunkhouse Vacation Packages”) for different services, including wellness check-ups, grooming, exercise runs, and play-time. Located in central New Mexico we are on the 54-70 highway, and therefore easily accessible to El Paso and regional airports.
