Horrendous, Not recommended by Mad Max - 10/30/2009
Several months ago, my dog was hit by a car. The person who hit Max took off before I could get out to the street. He was sitting in the gutter whining because I had been calling and he couldn't get to me. It was close to midnight and I had to get a neighbor to help carry him to my house. The only place I could find that was open was the Clearfield Animal ER. We called ahead, and they were waiting for us. I knew my dog was in bad shape, he couldn't move his back legs and had lost his bowel in the street where he got hit. He was drooling excessively, and was very shakey. They took him away immediately, and when the vet came in she said that his abdomen was swollen, and that he was paralyzed. She 'recommended' that we take him home, put him on pain killers and carry his waist area with a towel to see if he could go potty. She said we should do it for 3-4 days, to see if the swelling on his spine would go down. They wanted to take X-rays, and kept bringing in invoices that show

Excellent and professional care by mdarius - 09/25/2009
I have had my dog in twice and both times the care and examinations were very thorough and professional. I feel like my dog was examined better here than he ever was at our regular vet, and the recommendations were relevant and realistic. The price is high, but it is an after hours ER, I expected that. The vets took time with us, answered all our questions, and were sensitive to our feelings for our pet. I will return here again when the need arises.

I had brought my puppy in the Sunset location not to long ago. She was injured and bleeding and was unable to walk, she needed to be assisted and I was turned down because I did not have any money up front. My complained is this, When an injured "ANIMAL" is brought to you're "SO CALLED EMERGENCY" and you turn the animal down for not having money up front What kind of emergency are you running,it does not sound like you have the animals best interest at heart. How is it that you can turn down a hurt animal and feel good about the way this company is ran? Because my animal was not treated for this matter the "EMERGENCY WAY " she had to go to the hospital early this morning and bleed alot, she was in critical condition . The doctor was not impressed. However I understand that this is policy and has alot to do with the fact that anyone can come in for assistance and payment is expected, But can you not bill the person responsible for the animal ? I know the editor of the standard examiner

Help at a Sad Time by P. Kuralt - 06/24/2009
When my 16-yr. old dog, Taffy, collapsed in the back yard for the 4th time and I was unable to reach my regular vet, a friend helped me get her to the Animal Emergency Center in Sunset. I knew what they were going to tell me - that she was dying. The staff acted immediately, asking me what my preference was - to let nature take its course or to euthanise. I chose euthanisation. The staff let me remain with Taffy through it all. They monitored her closely until it was over. I was very impressed with how caring everyone was - especially considering that they were seeing us for the very first time. They offered me some options for taking care of Taffy's remains which instantly made me feel a little better. I chose to have her cremated and have a plaster mold made of her paw print. I was very pleased with both things and am happy to have what remains of Taffy for always. My thanks to all at the Animal Emergency Center
