American Soy Products, located in Saline, Mich., was founded in 1985 and is a Japanese and American joint venture partnership. The company is one of the largest North American soymilk producers and among the leaders in the expanding low-acid foods aseptic processing industry. American Soy Products produces soymilk from organically grown soybeans, filtered water, barley, barley malt and other ingredients. Using Japanese engineering, ASP employs a process designed to prepare soybeans for human consumption, and only whole organic soybeans are used in the entire process. The company contracts directly with organic soybean farmers located in and around Michigan. ASP is also active in the export of organic food grade soybeans to Japan. In partnership with Eden Foods, ASP supplies soymilk to more than 10,000 specialty retail stores and supermarkets throughout the United States and Canada.
