Shameful Service.

I gave the owner, Richard Cox, three weeks to call me before I posted this review. He opted not to follow up.

I moved to mason in 2012 and have supported this local business since, even after the owner was involved in an unusual police sting at a local motel that resulted in him resigning as a local council member.

In the Fall 2017, I was sold an annual policy that included and AC and furnace cleaning plus discounts on service. The unit was serviced in the Fall, but they did not call to do the AC cleaning until late August.

When I asked Brenda, the office worker who called me, why they didn�t call in the spring, she transferred me to Kim. Kim was nothing short of hostile so I drove up to their office hoping she would be more adult like in person.

Wrong.

I recorded the audio of the conversation as proof for the owner that his employees were out of control with calm, rational, loyal customers.

Kim knew I was coming up. I let her know as much (not as a threat). She filled their tiny office with 3 service men as �protection�. Kim and Brenda went crazy - no exaggeration- within 60 seconds of me arriving. It was so bad that the one male �protection� physically was blocking Brenda then told her to leave.

Luckily Tom, one of the service men, is an adult and capable of grown-up conversations. So, while Kim left the office in a fit of rage, Tom and I had a rational conversation.

Ultimately all of this turmoil is because I had a service call in June. The tech wiggles some wires and my AC unit started working again. I paid for that visit. I wonder, had they serviced my AC unit at the beginning of the season, would they have found the loose wires and avoided the service call and charges I incurred in June? We will never know, because the owner will not call me back to resolve or discuss.

So, I will not be getting the second service in my contract AND they have lost a customer all because the owner would not call me back.

We just had a new furnace installed about a week ago. The day it was installed after they had already left, we noticed a leak. Apparently they didn’t connect all of the hoses and one was draining into our floor. Then within a couple days, we needed to turn the heat on-and instead of the heat coming on- the a/c kicks on then alternates to the heat. When I called them to come out and take a look, they tried to charge me an $85 service fee (hadn’t even had the system less than a week). Once a time was scheduled for two days later and schedules were rearranged so we could be home, they called the same day saying they had to order a new thermostat and wouldn’t come out that day... this is without them ever coming out, so that tells me they were already aware of a common problem. Then when they tried to reschedule when the part does come in they refused to schedule an afternoon appointment because “they don’t drive that far in the afternoon”. So now we have to rearrange our schedules again because of their incompetence and terrible customer service. Very disappointed with this company.

These guys are impeccable perfectionists. You won't find a more experienced and knowledgeable team for any heating and cooling issues. There are a lot of choices but you'll be glad you called this trustworthy company.

Service Problem - Rich Cox was very unresponsive

After Al's Heating & Cooling installed my new air conditioner and furnace, I experience humidity problems. After several attempts to fix the problem, it wasn't resolved. During that time, Rich Cox, who was readily available while selling me the $9,000 system, weekends, by sell etc., all of a sudden became difficult to reach and rarely called me back. After years of trusting Rich and Al's Htg & Cooling, I would NEVER recommend them. It's too bad.
