BEWARE

by Heather , 06/15/2010

this place does NOT know how to care for animals......BEWARE....

This place shouldn't be able to treat stuffed animals let alone live ones!

This place was horrible. I have been there a total of 5 times and each times in seems to be worse. Unfortunately we have nothing else to chose from. From this point forward if time will allow I will definitely go to Akron "Metropolitan Vet Clinic". I took my dog there because she was in a fight with one of our other dogs. We have 5 so I guess a fight once a year is expected. She had 2 lacerations on her leg and when we went in she wasn't bleeding. After waiting a ridiculous amount of time she start bleeding, I told the receptionist and her answer to me was OK. After they stitched her up and $425.00 later they brought her out and she wasn't even cleaned up. There was blood dripping down her leg. When I said something the girls response to me was you can wash it with soap and water. The estimate that they reviewed with me the receptionist said that it included her antibiotics and pain medicine, when we were leaving I said where is the pain medicine they said oh that will be extra. We jus

All about the $$$

We took our dog in for emergency treatment. The first thing they needed to clear was the "estimate." They give you a high and a low estimate and demand payment before treating the animal. We forked over a check for more than $1000. When I picked up the dog to go our regular vet during their office hours, it turned out they owed me a refund. I was told that I had to WAIT for my money, because the check has to clear first. I think that is really awful. It is a time of stress and they demanded a full payment of their "estimate" yet.....I had to wait. Next time we will drive to Akron.

Great service

My 10 yr. old dog required emergency surgery in March. She was previously misdagnosed by her former vet along with being given inproper medication. She is now doing great and I am very grateful to the vet who handled her along w/the helpful staff.

Not Caring or helpful, all about the money

by dreamer_10 , 06/07/2011

Recently a dog was hit by a car and was in excrutiating pain. The dog was taken to this "Emergency" clinic by witnesses. The vet refused to give the dog care of any sort because there was no one to pay for the services. Instead the dog was sent to the pound with no pain relief what so ever. Ovbiously the vet was not thinking about the dog or the pain, only his wallet. This is not an emergency clinic, an emergency clinic would have treated the dog, even minimally and then found a rescue to take it in and finish treating it. The dog has been rescued from the pound and taken to a different clinic where they are taking care of his wounds and giving him pain meds. But now the cost will be considerably higher because the original wounds were not treated and are now infected. There will be surgery involved now, whereas if the so called vet at the 'emergency" clinic had taken care of him right away he would not have required surgery. Even if this were the last clinic , I would refuse to go.

Terrible place.. steer clear

All about the money exactly right.. When I called frantic they were sure to tell me to bring payment and then they wouldnt even treat him until I paid...my puppy was shot by a BB gun and they told me he was probably hit by a car.. they xrayed his neck and not anywhere near the hole in his side... he almost died because the BB had lodged in his bladder.. go to Pittsburgh Veterinary Speciality & Emergency Center.. top of the line.. saved my puppy's life.
