Marathon Training by
Mitchellville Fire Department -
I have been training for an October marathon since May with a goal to automatically qualify for the NYC marathon with a 2:55:00. I started to develop tight hamstrings and hips around the beginning of September, however. My wife recommended that I see a physical therapist/ chiropractor. I was pretty weary about seeing one, since I had never been to one in my life before that point, but I decided I'd give it a shot. The first time I saw Dr. Aaron, I have never felt so loose running before. He and Dr. Kurt are so good at what they do. I can walk in the door and all Dr. Aaron or Dr. Kurt has to do is watch me walk for 10 seconds and they can tell me exactly where I'm sore or tight. They then work on that area and within 10 minutes of walking in the door, I feel like a brand new runner. I ran the Des Moines Marathon sub 2:53:00 and while I have to give credit to my training coach, I'm pretty confident I wouldn't have ran it that fast (or ran the 2:55:00 I was hoping for) without the help and knowledge of these two Drs; I'm a believer now and never looking back.
Thank You Dr. Kurt! by
Thank you Dr. Kurt! I have been to chiropractors before but I really appreciate the one-on-one attention I receive from Dr. Kurt at every visit. I enjoy competing in triathlons but was experiencing pain and discomfort during my training. At every visit, we talk about how I'm feeling and begin our session by treating the sore areas and also performing stretches to increase my flexibility. Dr. Kurt has helped me identify weak muscle groups which we work together to strengthen with proper exercise techniques. Learning these proper techniques will be useful to me far beyond my treatment. And I have already seen huge improvements. I strongly recommend Active Wellness!
