What started as a small gems and minerals shop called Bader's on North Nevada Ave has now become a lapidary supply house called Ackley's Rocks.

Over 45 years ago Art and Helena Ackley bought their own business to sustain themselves during the economic ups and downs that effect most people throughout their lives. Holding firm to the idea that people stick with their hobbies even in a poor economy. They changed the name of their new business and added an inventory section to incorporate Art's stamp collecting hobby. Since then, Ackleys Rocks & Stamps successfully surged forward into the 21st century while attracting, through it's door, rock hounds and philatelists alike.

Although the stamp revenue has slowed, the rock business has flourished for the Ackley's. Lapidary services, jewelry repair, gold panning supplies as well as a large selection of gems and minerals have kept the rock hounds, metal smiths, and jewelry hobbyists coming back year after year.

Now in their mid 80's, Art 85 and Helena 84, the long hours of work have become a burden, they both plan to spend more time in retirement. As serendipity would have it, the Ackley's hired a local Pikes Peak Community College student, she came in looking to purchase supplies for her jewelry making classes. Molly Key 24, fell in love with the store and all it had to offer. Not long after her introduction, she introduced her mother Catherine to the store. It's been more than 2 years since Molly first set foot through the doors, as fortune would have it, she is now the new owner of Ackley's Rocks along with her mother Catherine and her Father David.
