What started out as an in-home tutoring center has now grown to a 5 room, 1,500 sq foot center located on the corner of Roosevelt and Lombard in Oak Park, IL.

Owner and founder, Denise J. Mastro, returned to school late in life after a long and unique history of entrepreneurship. With a strong desire to acquire a profession that would be fulfilling and gratifying- and enable her to help others- Denise returned to Dominican University to acquire her teaching degree. Her past experiences, unique talents and diversified prior businesses, enabled her to take the bulls by the horn- in the area of education. Once in the classroom setting, Denise experienced firsthand the problems and complexities of education in the U.S. today. Finding the classroom model to be ineffective, Denise refused to turn a blinds-eye to the poor results and inept practices that exist in our educational system today. The students become lucid when they come to the Center, they understand why it's important to be smart, learn, and that learning can be enjoyable and interesting—better than what they are typically accustomed to in a school setting.

The Center grew fast as word of mouth spread of the fantastic results and affordable rates. Students who thought they were not smart enough soon discovered that their problems were a reflection of poor instruction.

Denise frequently attends I.E.P. meetings , meets with teachers and facility as needed to correct problems and enhance learning opportunities for her students. Exceptional results are attributed to positive reinforcement, exceptional individualized instruction and magnificent learning activities that offer a straight forward , no-nonsense approach to learning. A Plus Master Tutoring Center offers a safe loving environment where students feel good about who they are, and what they are becoming. The students walk out knowing what they learned and why it is important. A Plus services all ages, working with children and adults to help others reach their full potential.

Reading, Writing, Math and Advanced Math Programs are available for all ages. We offer affordable rates from $27.00 per session, half the cost of other nationally known learning centers. A Plus is not a franchise. The costly lengthy contracts that are typical with franchised learning centers are unacceptable in the Directors opinion. No one has a crystal-ball, we cannot realistically predict the number of hours it may or may not take a student to catch-up, we can only go month-by-month and do our best. Students need the freedom and room to work at their own pace; the work must be challenging without being too difficult. Finding the right level and starting point is key.
