Provided by YP.comDO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE TAKE YOUR COMPUTER HERE OR TO ANY GEEK SQUAD FOR REPAIR! -When my Asus laptop started showing signs of a failing video card, I first called Asus. They said since I purchased it from best Buy, Best Buy would have to handle the repair process.
I took the laptop to Best Buy, telling them that Asus agreed that the video card was failing, etc. Geek Squad, however, knows better, and ran their own diagnostics, in house. They told me I had "a virus", and they would clean up the system for a mere $160. For a system they said "might show traces of...and we'd have to rule this out, before looking for hardware issues". I thought they were nuts, and took the laptop home, knowing I did not have a virus, but dutifully running scans, and making sure the system was clean. I reinstalled Windows, giving Best Buy a clean slate to work with. Had I allowed Best Buy to do the simple virus scan and clean up (not that there was anything to clean up), I would've been $160 poorer. I took the laptop back to Geek Squad in Best Buy, where they agreed to send it off -to a Geek Squad service center -wonder of wonders, they couldn't find this mysterious virus and the failing video card (evidenced by "archiving") persisted.
My laptop came back with a video card which, in the ten minutes I was in the store with it, appeared to function. However, the mouse pad, not previously broken, was no longer in working condition. The buttons did not work, and actually depressed all the way in. The laptop was sent back.
This time, when it came back, I simply opened it, thinking it would be easy to tell if the mousepad had been repaired. It had been, even thought the repair order said "no repairs needed". I brought the laptop home, hit the power button, and got...a bright white screen. that's it. And what does Geek squad want? me to sent it back to them -AGAIN! At this point, I don't even know if Asus would warranty the damage done by this repair center. It has gone from a replacement video card, to broken mouse pad, to what? a broken monitor? I don't even know. All I know is...this is beyond ridiculous. they have managed to royally screw up a less-than-one-year-old laptop which I paid almost $1300 for. *Goooo Geek Squad!*
