It was one of the most difficult things I had to do. We had a very friendly stray boy, an orange tabby, come around our house, and we already had 5 cats. Our Boy (that's his name) broke through a window and tried to kill "Reds". He did some damage to Reds' eye. Reds wanted to come into the house, and it broke my heart not to let him. I fed him, had him fully vetted and searched the surrounding no kill shelters to find him a home. Finally, this organization was the God send I needed. Very reluctantly and in tears, I surrendered Reds. I'm tearing up now, over a year later, writing this. I hope that he has found a forever home and deeply regret it couldn't be mine. Thank you, Humane Society, for helping me out with such a desperate situation. You and Snippet of Citrus County RULE!!! We named him Mugwump post surrender as it really fit him.

This place has really come a long way. There used to be this horrible boy there, but he seems to be gone now. The new staff is friendly and spends a lot of time with you. They have lots of cats, but I wish they had more dogs. I saw they're going to build a new facility, so hopefully they'll be able to take more in. Their facility is a little run down, but they seem to make due. There's lots of yards for the dogs to run around in. My daughter and I go down there every couple of weeks to pet the cats. It's a pretty good place as far as animal shelters go... and they're a no kill shelter... Which we love!
