Karen Amundsen is an accomplished potter who creates functional, wheel thrown, stoneware pottery which is food, oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. Karen began her foray into crafts as a child with many projects in plastic canvas and cross-stitch. In high school, she worked part-time in a fabric store. While employed there, she learned to sew, including prom dresses, numerous baby blankets, and home accessories. She also enjoyed drafting and architecture. Hence, she continued her education at Drexel University earning a bachelor of science in interior design. After graduation, her love of children drove her to earn a masters degree and doctorate of education and become a teacher. For a while, children's crafts kept her love of art alive. Then, she took some pottery classes and never stopped throwing, eventually creating a studio in her barn. Making more pieces than she could give away, she began selling her creations for the pleasure of making more. Her creations can be found in hundreds of homes throughout the world.
