I brought an antique French carriage clock to the clockmaker at Boyd's for repair and clean up. It had a very complicated mechanism for the alarm and chimes which took a while for him to figure out. I am very impressed that he never gave up until it was working perfectly. Their customer service and professionalism was first rate.

Terrible service and business ethic. I paid them to completely rebuild a 50+ year old wall clock. They assured me it would be no problem and would run like new when complete. This was to be a complete rebuild including all new bushings. After the job was completed the clock would keep time for 2-3 days, but the chime would routinely stall and then stop. I took the clock back and explained the problem. After a few days they called and said it was fixed. i asked what had been done and was told 'nothing, the clock runs just fine' I asked them to keep it for another month to ensure that was the case. A month later they said it was fine; no problems. I brought it home; same problems. I took the clock to another watchmaker and this is what was found: there was no bushing in the escape wheel; two other bushing were to loose and one other bushing was too tight. This was confirmed by noting the gear trains did not spin freely.

Friendly, competent, caring...readily apparent in the briefest interaction. I am delighted with the repair of two cherished time pieces. In many ways, despite their 30 and 40 year ages, they run better today than ever.
