I have been to two other GI docs in our area, previously, and was fairly unsatisfied. Going to this clinic is like a breath of fresh air. The expertise, of each person in his office are top notch, the care my husband I have experienced is top notch. My husband, had been going to a Dr.Patel for years regarding his Barretts Esophagus and saw Dr.Patel every 6 months. I convinced my husband to try my new doctor. THIS SAVED HIS LIFE, as Dr.Charles, performed the EGD and discovered, my husbands' stomach had pushed through a huge hernia, (the other doctor never even mentioned he had a esophageal hernia) and was in grave danger of it rupturing!! WE had no idea. we were referred to a top notch Bariatric Surgeon in Charleston, where the surgeon stated "one more large meal, would probably caused a rupture of his esophagus would have killed him". The surgery that would normally take a few minutes took over 3 hours and now my husband has a new lease on life. WE would like to thank this most excellent GI doctor, for his expertise in his field, for saving my husbands life. ONE thing that is awesome you can have a colonoscopy or EGD at the clinic that morning at 8 am and be out of there by 9 AM. Do not go to Dr.Patel in Beckley, this decision could save your life.
