I love this place and I highly recommend you try it! I have visited The Fat Grass several times and they have yet to let me down. I’m well on my way to becoming a “regular”.



The food is amazing and the menu truly offers a little something for everyone. I have sampled just about everything on the menu and each item is unique and soooo good. The Tuna Tar-Tar and Seafood Pasta are my favorites. They have a great wine list that covers a very broad spectrum of tastes, too.



The ambiance takes you far far away from Bay City. It has the feel of a restaurant/bar in one of those swanky hotels in downtown Houston – very classy. The courtyard/bar area is a great place to chill if you’re looking for something fun and a little more relaxed than the usual Bay City hangout.



The service was questionable the first time I visited The Fat Grass, but that was also the week they opened. Since then, they seem to have worked out the kinks and the service has been excellent. I am very particular about my food and the wait staff always goes above and beyond to accommodate me and my outrageous requests.

great new place in BC. feels like you are in Austin. best food in town. the bar is fantastic. we eat in the bar and the service was great. the server was very friendly. definitely recommend

For an appetizer we chose the bacon wrapped jalapenos, and they were wonderful, and for dinner I got the ribeye, and my spouse ordered the mahi mahi, both were wonderful!

However, the service was the worst I've ever seen. The place did have customers, but were not busy by any stretch of the imagination. When we were seated, it took about 15 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order, and by the time they got there, we were ready to order our drinks, appetizers and entree. After placing our order, the appetizer came first, and a guy came and sat it on the table and left. No plates, silverware, or napkins. I had to flag down a hostess to ask for something to eat with, and she did bring us silverware and napkins, but no plates. The stuffed jalapenos were perfect though, I would order them again for sure.

It took about 10-12 minutes for our pina colada and margarita to arrive. I could see the bar from where we sat and NO other drinks were made from the time we placed our order until our drinks were made. The two behind the bar were just busy visiting. When we did finally get our drinks, however they were perfect.

The food arrived shortly after our drinks did, and both meals were perfect, my steak was one of the best steaks I've ever had and was cooked to perfection. Halfway through our meal, we ordered more drinks, which didn't come until we were ready to leave, but we stayed and drank them anyway.

I would have to say we will be going back for the terrific food, but for a bill of 85$ for 2 people, I would expect way better service than what we got. I would say that the front staff is a little bit too young/immature to not have a staff manager. There was plenty of staff in the front, just not doing a lot of working.
