The Elgin-Butler Brick Company, with central operations at a 1,000-acre site in Butler, Texas, is a family-owned business that ships bricks throughout the United States and abroad. Its sales office is headquartered in Austin, Texas. Founded in 1873, Elgin-Butler acquired Austin Brick Company in 1912 and Elgin Standard Brick Company in 1965. It has supplied bricks for many structures for the Texas Capitol building in Austin, as well as many of the buildings at the University of Texas campus in Austin and the United States Embassy in Mexico City. Long recognized as one of the leaders in glazed brick, Elgin-Butler's versatile structural wall systems for interior and exterior applications are used in schools, gymnasiums, locker rooms, restaurants, hospitals and correctional facilities.
