This was my first experience in renting a storage unit, and it was NOT GOOD. We were there for only a little over two months. The roof of our unit leaked onto our things damaging some valuable items. Several things had to be thrown away and mold developed on some items. . What was even more disgusting was that they KNEW some of the units had leaked and did not inform their patrons who might have checked and saved some things from further damage. I would guess that they did not want to alarm customers. So, ignorance is supposed to be bliss I guess, until you open your unit and discover the truth. Of course, they quickly told us they were not responsible for anything. I will be complaining to the BBB as well. This place is one of the more expensive storage facilities around, and be aware that you might just be wasting your money and your time all to lose your things in the end. I will do everything that I can to steer customers away from using this facility. If you decide to ignore this warning, you do so at your own risk. You have been forewarned.

Terrible Customer Service

Southlands Self Storage is a 'no frills' and customer service-less operation. The owners are very grouchy and defensive and when I asked for clarification on something, seemed to tell me that they had no control over whatever issue I was having, got angry and just told me they couldn't do anything. ALSO - I reserved a truck to move out on a specific day and called one week prior to confirm.. they didn't have any reservation for me and simply dismissed my issue that they had no control over their trucks. TERRIBLE customer service and HORRIBLE to deal with for anything! Go somewhere else for your storage solutions. Buyer BEWARE!

Quite happy

They were very helpful, honored the free truck and half price off first month. I was very pleased that they had someone coming in for their last truck but could let me use it for the 90 minutes that I needed it.Thank you.

Horrible Winter Maintenance

After going through a winter when they failed to plow so many times causing us to have to purchase a snow shovel and rock salt (daily use of our unit), causing our cars to get stuck at the gate, and icy conditions, they raised our price due to the "state of the economy and increased operational coses, including property taxes." We didn't realize property taxes were assesed in April - who knew! Carol is nice but Harvey has always been cranky whenever we talked with him. Sad day...Our money is good elsewhere!
