On 12/10/15 I took my Subaru Outback to get an oil change and an oil leak fixed. They called me the same day to inform me that to fix the leak they would have to replace the valve cover gaskets. It would cost $400(with a coupon). We agreed to pay the amount to fix the leak. On 12/11 I received a call that there was an issue with the bolts. I was told they were stripped because of the leaking oil. My husband went to the shop 12/12 to take discuss this with them. The mechanic he talked to said they had stripped the bolts while putting it back together and the bolts would not thread or torque to the correct specifications. He also informed my husband that he had started working on the control arm because he thought that was also something we wanted worked on (it was recommended to us but we were not wanting that work done at that time). My husband was told that a tech would be in on Monday to assess the damage and come up with a new estimate for the work. My husband told him we would not be paying for the work since it was Keller's mistake in stripping the bolts. On 12/14 my husband received a call with a quote of $1500 which included removing the engine to heli coil the engine so the bolts would thread correctly. We refused to pay that amount and asked to have the car put back together.

12/14 we arrived at the shop to pick up my car. They charged us $400 for the gasket replacement. However, when we questioned why we were paying anything since they caused further damage to which we would have to get fixed somewhere else, we were told they DID NOT strip the bolts and that it was a salvaged engine. We were told it was stripped by someone else. When I informed them that the engine was rebuilt completely when we bought it (4/2012), another mechanic at the front desk became very upset and said his tech told him it was a salvage engine and that is why the bolts were stripped. He said the $400 included replacing the gaskets and assessing the damage. They claimed that "they don't conduct business that way," referring to causing damage to our car and not claiming responsibility. They denied stripping the bolts multiple times and said it was just an "unforseen issue". We ended up paying the $400 since they refused to give our vehicle back without that payment. On the receipt for the work, it is noted that "the valve cover bolts that secure the cover to the cylinder were loose"- loose, not stripped. When they put the bolts back, the bolts would not torque to correct specifications due to the threads in the cylinder head being stripped. So the threads were not stripped when they started the work, and were stripped when they were finished.

12/18 we took the car to the dealership we bought it from in Golden. They said it would be $1155 to fix the stripped bolts. The owner of the dealership called Keller's on this date. Keller's shop owner admitted to stripping the bolts but said there is nothing they can do about it. He also stated nobody at his shop would ever tell a customer oil stripped a bolt and that they would have no way of telling if the engine was new or used. The way they conducted business with us is absolutely unacceptable.

I notice more decent reviews are for their oil changes. Those are a great price and seem like something they can handle. Wouldn't trust them with more than that though.

I will never go to Keller's for anything again, period. I took my car in to have an alignment and tire rotation done. Their price was already more expensive than most, but I figured you get what you pay for, so I'd give them a try. After a couple of hours, I called to see if they were done with my car. They informed me that I needed my camber bolts replaced and it would cost me over $400! I asked why was it so expensive for a couple of bolts that aren't even $30 in parts. They said it was because they had to take the wheels off to change them. I told them they were supposed to be taking the wheels off to rotate them, which they were charging me $40 for, so how come it was $300+ to take them off for this. They couldn't answer me except that they only hire ASE certified mechanics and have to pay them more. I called BS and told them I wasn't paying that extreme amount and would be on my way to pick up my car. They still charged me over $100 for the alignment that was crap. One of the mechanics followed me out to the car after overhearing what the other guy was saying and told me to go to Napa and pick up the bolts for $12 each then have it realigned. Well, I did buy the bolts and got new tires because of the uneven wear on mine caused by the misalignment. Well, after the bad experience with them, I looked up alignment shops online and found an alignment shop that's been in business since the 60s and had excellent reviews. I took my car to them and they said that those bolts did no good and they had actually caused more harm. I went home and found the old bolts and brought my car back to them. THEY only charged me $50 to put the old bolts back in (you know, the ones that Keller's said needed to be replaced?) and they did a perfect alignment for $50 TOTAL! My car drives like a dream now! So beware of going to Keller's! I don't blame the young man that gave me the advice on buying the bolts because I think he was only trying to help, but the crew as a whole was dishonest to say the least. I'd give them NO STARS if I could!

Hold on to your wallet's people, your in for a ride. I wanted to see what other people thought of this shop and was surprised (or maybe not) to find that the last 3 reviews were all made on the same day about 3 years ago! Apparently, they like themselves well enough to make up testimonials for consumers looking at this site.

Great Shop! Great Crew

I took my car into Kellers. I had a bad leak in my driveway, and a braking problem. I droped it off at 8:00 am. By 10:30 am they called me with an estimate. The oil laek was in the tranmission switch and the brakes only needed new rotors. I felt the estimate was realiy fair and with the cupons they have I saved even more money. (another $50.00!!) I highly recommend them.
