My wife and I just paid La Casa Latina $24.56 (food + tip) for a massive disappointment and the most the owner was willing to do was comp. my sweet tea and take off 10%.

The "skirt steak" I ordered was absolutely terrible, and according to them that's just "how it is".

I am absolutely certain this "skirt steak" at La Casa Latina is, by far, the cheapest, toughest beef I have ever eaten. The fact that this horrible abomination of a steak cost $14 (with a basic salad and mofongo), was almost as surprising as the fact that such a dish even exists!

I'd rather eat beef from McDonalds and I hate McDonalds; that's how disappoint this is.

According to them, "skirt steak" is a traditional dish, so I guess people are raised eating horribly cheap beef or something; that's fine, but in what universe is the cheapest, toughest meat you can get worth $14? I'm guessing that, traditionally, it doesn't cost $14. For $14, I could get a great sirloin steak that would have been a heavenly delight compared to this nonsense.

I almost never ask for food to be taken off my bill. it makes me feel like a snob for complaining and I don't want to hurt people's feelings, but in this case, the steak was so blatantly unacceptable I would've been a complete pushover not to say something.

I warned them I would be leaving a bad review if they actually refused to take this "steak" off my bill, something I've never had to do before and probably won't need to do again.

The only reason this isn't a 1 star review is because our server was patient and polite (I gave her a 20% tip) and because their fried plantains were actually pretty excellent.

However, I'm disgusted that I spent so much money on such a low-quality, yet expensive excuse for a meal. I mean, why even have a restaurant if you're going to use the absolute lowest-quality ingredients possible?

Shame on you, La Casa Latina. Completely unacceptable.
