Giuseppe Gagliardi, MD, FACS, is a general surgeon who has been serving patients all over the world for over 30 years. As a colon and rectal surgery specialist, Dr. Gagliardi currently works with patients at Chicago Surgical Clinic in Arlington Heights, Illinois. A native of Italy, Dr. Gagliardi was originally born in Naples, Italy, and completed his baccalaureate degree at "San FSM Bianchi" in Lyceum, Naples. He went on to earn his medical doctorate and complete his general surgery residency at the University of Naples in 1988 and 1993, respectively. After finishing his first residency, Dr. Gagliardi relocated to Florida, where he completed a second general surgery residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2004. Dr. Gagliardi soon realized that he wanted to specialize in colon and rectal surgery, and honed in on his surgical skills during a colon and rectal fellowship at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas, in 2005. Dr. Gagliardi is committed to providing each one of his patients with the compassionate, individualized care they deserve. As an urgent and emergency care provider, he is known for remaining calm under pressure and always puts his patients first. Under Dr. Gagliardi’s care, patients can feel confident that they are in good hands, no matter the situation. In addition to his role at Chicago Surgical Clinic, Dr. Gagliardi serves as an assistant clinical professor of surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is affiliated with the St. Mark's Hospital Association, European Society of Colo-Proctology, and the Chicago Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is an initiate fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Outside of work, Dr. Gagliardi studies philosophy (Greek, Hellenistic, Structuralism) and practices Ashtanga yoga.
