Best Karate School

We initially wanted to enroll our son at another karate school who was very excited to sign him up. However, at only 5, they wanted us to purchase an expensive bag that included weapons and gear! I don't think so! We searched further and found American Karate Academy at Altamonte! We were welcomed by Mr. King who was very courteous and pleasant. He wanted us to try for 2 or 3 times before we make the decision to enroll. He said, he did not want to take just anybody in who is not yet able to follow instructions. I felt, finally a school that will not rip us off! They are truly concerned about their students' well being and personal growth. Mrs. King who also teaches at the school is equally as nice. All of the students adore her and is almost a second mom to them. I feel like she is as proud as any of the parents' whose child just got promoted to the next belt! My son just got promoted to yellow belt last month. Going to AAKA is one of the best decisions my husband and I have done so far to help our child become a well-grounded and better person. I am one who is always skeptical about writing recommendations but I did not think twice about writing one for this academy!

Best Choice

My son started there about 3 years at age 8 and it has been one of the best things in his life. Not only did it teach him what you would expect but also has opened new doors and allowed him to excel in a new arena of life. I have also started at this school and it has helped me get back into shape and gave me just another thing to share with my son. Instruction is very well done and for those young men and women that want to do more with it, they are quick to make sure they get the extra guidance they need.

Great place to train, get fit and have fun!!!!

I started training at American Karate Academy in September of 2010, 41 years old, out of shape, weighting 296 pounds and in need of something to keep me motivated. I found that and more at this fantastic school. Five months later, through a lot of hard work and attending class often, I have lost 50 pounds, feel more fit, earned my orange belt, laughed often and had a great timeThe adult class has the right mix of young adults (13 and up - great kids!) and old timers like me to foster a fun, family oriented atmosphere. Mr. King, the owner and head instructor leads the adult class with the right balance of humor, discipline and positive enthusiasm. The adult class offers a good mixture of traditional Shito Ryu Karate, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Israeli combatives (Krav Maga), physical training, and a large dose of Mr. King's brand of humor. If you are looking for a place to learn self defense, get fit, feel at home and have a great time, then this is the place for you!

Great Karate School

My child started attending Altamonte American Karate Academy in fifth grade as an alternative to day care or babysitting. Six years later and still loving it! My child is now a black belt and an instructor at AAKA! Mr. and Mrs. King and AAKA have been instrumental in helping to raise my child’s self esteem, teaching self respect and respect of others. I would recommend AAKA to anyone looking for a responsible and respectable environment in either after school instruction, evening class, or even the adult evening class.

The Real Deal

I am a middle class parent in the Lake Brantley school district and I cannot say enough about Sensei King, His wife and partner Jodie, their staff and their school. All four of my boys have benefited from the Altamonte American Karate program. My oldest who is 25 now, started when he was five and his 3 brothers followed and my youngest is 15 and still attends evening classes. The school is a great place for them to learn, exercise and stay grounded. After studying Martial arts for 10 years in South East Asia I knew that Altamonte Karate Academy was a traditional and profession karate school that would teach values, discipline, respect and true Martial Arts. My kids who are now men are confident, successful members of society. Thanks Mr. and Mrs. King. You feel like part of our family.Glen S. NewcombPresident, Enterprise Experts Inc.

Angry mom

This is the most unprofessional place of business I have ever interacted with. Owners were very verbally abusive and very aggressive. I simply called and asked for information and was greeted with ignorance and slander of my name and character. What could a place that takes care of children have to be so uptight about? If anything they should be open and forth coming with any information I ask about the business. I was extremely surprised at their behavior. I firmly believe that if you live behind a facade who you really are will be seen one day.
