Excellent place to go anytime.... As I am from California, I can say that Japanese Kitchen out ranks a lot of what I have experienced in LA or San Francisco. Great sushi chef, and you can buy a bottle of good sake, put your name on it for the next visit... Amazing service.
There are two restaurants same name ~ i prefer the more quiet smaller sushi space to the larger grill. But that is great for groups of people who want to drink eat and have a blast. YUM YUM

Horrible Hostess

We went here today to celebrate my daughters 19th Birthday. We have been taking her here since she was a little girl. We were horribly disappointed by the front hostess (whom I also believe is the owner). We were a party of 5 with 2 high chairs. We got attitude from her as soon as we were seated because I had to move one of the high chairs. The way she had set them just did not work. I did leave the two seat on the side of the table for other customers as she had requested. After a few minutes she rudely/loudly whispered to our waiter to "just close out this table". This set the mood for our entire dining experience. We even left without the usual b-day song/pic/green tea ice cream- because I could not stand to be there a minute longer. I know that for many years Japanese Kitchen was the only place to experience teppan style dining in Albuquerque so we were stuck with the rude service and attitude. However, we now have places like Azuma, Hayashi, and Samari, who not only offer the same type of food/experience but do so with a smile. I would suggest that you all start treating your customers better or they will go somewhere else. Personally, I will NEVER spend money at your establishment again.

Not bad, just mediocre.....terrible service

We were totally devastated by the lack of sincere service by a waitress upon our visit this evening. We came here for a celebration but it turned out to be one of the worst experiences we have ever had because of this waitress who had no mannerisms and was apparently not trained properly by the owner. The food was not bad, but at best it is mediocre. I highly suggest the owner to proper educate her waitresses.
